And now for a few questions to get to know our friends at Affinity Strategies...
What do you enjoy most about working for Affinity Strategies?
Elizabeth: Working with my team, clients and driving forward our company mission- the patient is our purpose!
Claire: I enjoy working closely with such smart, thoughtful co-workers, trying to figure out the best opportunities and answers for our clients as well as the challenges of a fast-paced environment. I tend to thrive under tight deadlines
Cayla: What I enjoy most about working at Affinity Strategies is the close-knit professional environment. We have a small group of professionals with a variety of backgrounds that allow constant learning from within Affinity.
What has been your career highlight so far?
Elizabeth: Starting Affinity Strategies ten years ago in March!
Claire: Whenever I am able to solve a problem that involves designing something it makes my day!
Cayla: My career highlight has been becoming Chief of Staff of Affinity. I have been with Affinity Strategies since the beginning, and I have had the pleasure of being in multiple roles to see every side of the business.
Tell us three things most people do not know about you.
Elizabeth: I grew up with a family business- working in my mom’s flower shop, which has given me my entrepreneurial spirit. I am passionate about managing medical associations because I am mission based and believe in their purpose of improving medical care. I love Masterpiece Theater.
Claire: I have an identical twin; I am a pretty good cook; I did a 100 mile bike ride with no training beforehand
Cayla: Three things most people do not know about me is that I am a huge Marvel nerd and love all the marvel movies. I am a huge history buff as well and love reading about history, specifically European royals. The last one is a bit boring but not many people realize I am left-handed!
What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever received?
Elizabeth: Work hard and persevere. This too shall pass.
Claire: Don’t worry about not knowing how to do something – learning something new can be fun and exciting to do and then you have a new skill to help out.
Cayla: If someone can get the job done it does not matter the route they take as long as the outcome is the same.
What is your favorite book, movie or tv show?
Elizabeth: I loved the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Claire: I really enjoyed the re-booted Dr. Who – although haven’t watched the last few seasons. The storylines were so creative and some have stuck with me
Cayla: My favorite TV show is Friends, it is just a classic that is easy to watch.
What is your favorite vacation destination and why?
Elizabeth: Greece and Southern Italy. My husband and I love the Mediterranean.
Claire: I didn’t do any vacations growing up so made sure to do a lot of road trips with my kids when they were younger – hoping I made a lot of fun memories for them.
Cayla: I do not vacation often, but my favorite place is Siesta Key, Florida. I have been going there since I was a child, and it just brings back all those childhood memories.
What is your favorite family tradition or activity?
Elizabeth: I love to eat and make Christmas cookies and Christmas with my family.
Claire: We don’t play it every year but I enjoy getting together with my husband’s family over the holidays and playing Left, Right, Center – it was a lot of fun to get competitive over something that only cost $3 to play but you could win big!
Cayla: Now that I have a family of my own, our favorite thing to do is on Christmas Eve we have a street in our neighborhood that goes over the top with Christmas decorations, and we walk the street to look at all the lights and decorations. |

A new year brings a new opportunity with the introduction of the “AT Gives Back” initiative. This program’s mission is to allow employees to share and showcase a special group, organization, or project that impacts their heart, life, or community. Through sharing these groups, we will introduce some great stories and wonderful people and provide opportunities to get involved. AT will be donating to the selected group and we would love to see you get involved as well.
This month we selected a food pantry, Shepard’s Heart, which is supported by our client, Chapelstreet Church. Based in Geneva, the food pantry serves over 1,600 people per month. Anyone who resides in the Kane County area and has a need for food is welcome. The Shepard’s Heart team cares about meeting the needs specific to each family and circumstance and sharing God's love through their service. In addition to monetary donations, Shepard’s Heart is in need of food and pantry items including laundry detergent, dish soap, soup, canned meats, fruits and veggies.
