Based on the positive feedback we received from the first session, we will be offering the IT Basics Bootcamp again in a new on demand format. Studies show that tech savvy employees are more productive, engaged and satisfied but how do you turn your tech-shy staff member into a productive tech-savvy employee? AT to the rescue!
What our clients said about our first IT Basics Boot Camp:
|
|
|
"The IT Basics program is broken down into segments that are then presented in a way that is understandable to the casual user. There are many tips and tricks along the way that I may not have known or forgot were there. I evaluate a program on the ability to teach me something new and to bring the forgotten to the forefront of my mind. IT Basics has done just that. Great job to everyone involved." |
"Association Technologies staff are incredibly knowledgeable and have an obvious passion for the information in which they specialize."
"I learned a number of shortcuts that I'll be able to implement in my day-to-day work to save time and increase efficiency." |

AT has thoroughly tested Windows 11 both on new computers and by upgrading computers with Windows 10. After our research, we have concluded that all new computers should be deployed with Windows 11. At this time, we are not recommending existing computers update to Windows 11 unless there is a need for the upgrade.
If you would like to explore upgrading one or multiple computers, please reach out to schedule a meeting to discuss.

This month the spotlight is on one member of our development team (Ed Sirijintakam) and the operations team (Amy Bohn, Julie Hartsock and Lisa Kulig) The dev team focuses on software development and custom integrations for our clients while the operations team is responsible for project management, procurement, accounting, human resources, marketing and bits and pieces of everything else we do.
We asked the team a few questions to help you get to know them a little better and they said...
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
- Amy: A diet coke and a hug from my son.
- Ed: Kissing my children.
- Lisa: Coffee
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
- Amy: Christmas – I love shopping for others and finding that perfect special gift that they never thought they needed!
- Ed: Thanksgiving, because it brings my family together from around the world.
- Lisa: Thanksgiving, I love getting together with family and having a day to just hang out, play games and eat.
Before working at AT, what was the most unusual or interesting job you've ever had?
- Amy: In High School/College I worked as the Assistant Manager at Old McDonald’s Farm at the Three World of Santa’s Village taking care of the animals. I was asked to feed newborns overnight, deliver goats, and even got bit by a monkey. After college I worked for an Educational Software company and attended Trade Shows in over 20 states! We worked hard and played hard too.
- Ed: I was the Data Center Manager for [----REDACTED----]. I was asked to perform tasks that would land me a serious fine or even put me in jail. I obviously refused to perform all those things. The owner of that company is now serving jail time, btw.
- Julie: For my college internship, I worked at Walt Disney World.
- Lisa: I sold vacation ownership properties (yes, timeshare) and delivered pizza in college when most delivery guys were male, kids used to answer the door and scream “It’s a girl!”.
People would be surprised if they knew...
- Amy: My cousin played professional baseball for over 13 years.
- Ed: I'm a USA Hockey certified coach.
- Lisa: I was nominated for Citizen of the Year
Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?
- Amy: Italy or Switzerland. I loved the history, the architecture, and exploring new places.
- Ed: Thailand as my wife and I have families there. But Boston is pretty awesome too!
- Julie: Italy – to the Amalfi Coast – it’s almost like you are walking into a puzzle, it’s so beautiful it’s surreal.
- Lisa: Tough question, I don’t think I have ever traveled anywhere that I didn’t love. Rome was incredible, it has amazing history, architecture, food and wine.
Where are you in birth order (oldest? middle? youngest?) and do you think it affects your personality?
- Amy: I am the youngest of 2. I have one older brother who is 5 years older than me. Yes, I think it has helped shaped who I’ve become. In some ways I’ve followed in his footsteps by going to the same college, Augustana. In other ways we are complete opposites, I participated in all sports while he found his passion in music.
- Ed: Youngest. I get whatever I want!
- Julie: Youngest, but also only girl, I think being the only girl has more of an effect than age order (for me)
- Lisa: Only child, I am fiercely independent, and I would much rather be around people than be alone
How many states have you been to and which one is your favorite?
- Amy: I have been to 40 states so far and would like to start traveling with Zachary to see the remainder! I have traveled to Florida to Disney World many times to visit my brother and his family. They used to live there when he worked for Disney for 13 years.
- Ed: 14 with Massachusetts being my favorite.
- Julie: Not sure #?? Although I love so many things about South Carolina, I would still say Florida is my favorite vacation state, but Colorado, in a very different way, is a great vacation spot as well.
- Lisa: 41, South Carolina is my current favorite because a piece of my heart is there (my daughter goes to U of SC)

ASAE Annual Meeting |
It finally happened! It was supposed to happen in 2020 in Las Vegas and then in 2021 in Houston. After a few years of Covid delays, ASAE Annual was back in person in Nashville. AT was part of a group of industry partners titled the "Success Crew". The tailgate theme (see Jersey photo) was well received and the "Crew" hosted a fun event at The Olde Red. As usual, ASAE put on a great event. The meeting started with Safi Bahcall, author of Loonshots sharing his insights and strategies to help associations innovate. On day two, Marcus Whitney shared his incredible journey from dropping out of college; to becoming a founder of a healthcare VC fund; to bringing professional soccer to Nashville; to creating the first Black healthcare venture fund. The closing keynote was the powerful story of Cindy Bullens, a GRAMMY-nominated musician and author of TransElectric. Besides the amazing keynotes, there were many outstanding sessions that focused on the overall conference theme of "Disruption = Opportunity". It was wonderful to see so many colleagues in person after years of Zoom and Teams meetings. |

HighRoad Solutions VirCon 2022 |
Associations and nonprofits are at a pivotal point where the needs, interests, and behaviors of the younger generations entering the workforce are influencing marketing, programming, and membership modeling for decades to come. As such, change with intention is necessary.
But driving the right kind of change requires constant learning. Organizations need to be self aware, visionary, and malleable. Most importantly, they need to become a student to their data. That means learning from wins and failures. Anything less puts them on the painful path to detention.
Join us as we dive into the many different ways associations can reinvent themselves for the future. |
