Julie graduated from Illinois State University with a double major in marketing and international business with a Spanish emphasis. She had careers with Hyatt Corporation and also worked as a mortgage loan officer which she loved because she was able to work with and help first time home buyers. Julie met Bryan in college thru Bryan's best friend who was Julie's high school prom date and eventually the best man in their wedding. They began dating during their junior year of college and were married in 1992. Julie and Bryan have three children: Emily (24), Josh (22) and Alyx (20). Emily is married and lives in Michigan. Josh is graduating from Clemson in May with a biology degree and Alyx just entered the Nursing program at Grand Valley State. Julie was always part of the AT family but officially started working as the HR/Accounting administrator in 2004. She had taken some time outside the work force to raise the kids and Bryan and Mark wanted to hire an admin at AT. Julie planned to get everything caught up for whoever was hired and ended up discovering that the role was the perfect fit for her. Julie is responsible for HR including payroll and benefits as well as the accounts payable. Besides getting to work with her fabulous husband, she has really enjoyed getting to know the AT family.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys visiting her kids, spending time with friends and likes staying active by biking, playing pickleball (sometimes on the new court at AT) and walking their two dogs Holly and Marco. Julie also enjoys working in the yard with Bryan and they just started a new project rehabbing the 100 year old house in Grand Rapids, Michigan that they bought for Alyx to live in.
And now a few questions to get to know a little more about Julie:
Four fun facts about Julie:
- In addition to her role at AT, Julie works part time as an admin at Chapelstreet Church (also an AT client). She loves all the people there and being able to help with events, welcoming new comers, supporting the campus pastor and getting to work where she goes to church.
- She did an internship at Walt Disney World and worked at Epcot in merchandising.
- In the summer of 2019 Julie travelled across Italy for 17 days with Alyx (Bryan and Josh joined on day 9) carrying only a backpack. During their adventures they used many forms of transportation including train, segway, walking, gondola, ferry, boat, bus, taxi and even a train on a ferry.
- She has gone on mission trips to the Domincan Republic, Ecaudor and Mexico
Favorite Food: Anything Mexican
What is a super power you wish you had? Teleportation- she would like to be able to snap her fingers and get somewhere instantly.
Favorite Book: Let's Roll, the biography of Todd Beamer
Currently reading? She is reading the bible in chronological order
Philosophy on Mission Trips : She has committed to never let an opportunity pass, when she is on trips she always eats the weird food or tries the unique experience. She has eaten cuy and crickets and jumped off a cliff.
What have you always wanted to try but haven't yet: Skydiving
Favorite vacation spots: Any beach with the family
Photos L to R: Bryan And Julie in Cabo, the family in Positano, Italy and Alyx, Josh and Julie at the equator line in Ecuador.
