Microsoft, Apple and Google have all released urgent updates within the past month. We continually deploy the latest updates on all the machines we manage but wanted to remind everyone to make sure you are updating your personal devices. All three companies announced the patched vulnerabilities are being actively exploited in attacks. By keeping your devices up to date with the latest patches you will reduce the potential that you could fall victim to a cyber attack.

There was a recent malware attack that involved a release of 26 million usernames and passwords. It would definitely be a good time to ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date and your passwords have recently been modified. When creating a new password you should look for a complex phrase that utilizes upper and lowercase letters along with numbers and symbols. Quotes from movies or songs, with a few adjustments, make great passwords. For example, the quote: “You complete me” from Jerry Maguire can become “Uc0mpletem3!” which is a 12 character strong password containing no dictionary words. In addition, every site should have it's own unique password. This will minimize a breach on one site enabling a hacker to access all your data across multiple sites. Lastly, utilizing a password manager such as LastPass or OnePassword can make it easy to manage all of these different and complex passwords. |

For the past four years Mark has been participating in a local charity golf outing supporting RevelationGolf. This year AT sponsored a hole to support this wonderful local charity. Mark was introduced to RevelationGolf when he took a lesson from a local golf pro, Kathy Williams. Shortly after a colleague invited him to participate in the outing and he has continued to support the outing every year. RevelationGolf is a not-for-profit organization that uses the game of golf to enhance and develop a meaningful quality of life for cancer survivors, individuals with a physical disability and at risk female youth. Their mission is to provide an environment that promotes one's uniqueness and encourages social, emotional and physical health while growing in the game of golf.

Tyler has always been into computers and technology and built his first computer as a freshman in High School. He was working as the lead technician for Media Com when he was recruited by his brother Dustin to join the AT family. Prior to becoming a network consultant at AT, a lot of his computer knowledge was self taught but when he started here he began 'drinking from the fire hose' and has been learning continually every since. His primary focus is on 3CX, cloud, cloud migrations and firewalls but he handles a little of everything else as well. He enjoys working at AT because he really enjoys the people here, working with our clients and the fact that technology is always changing which keeps it interesting so it is never boring.
Tyler lives in a townhouse in Yorkville with his girlfriend Ashley. They have a blind, mixed-breed rescue dog named Walter. Outside of work they do trivia every Thursday night with his team '(Not So) Smarty Pints' and enjoy traveling as much as possible. Recent travel destinations include New Buffalo, Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They also love tailgating at the Bears games and try to go to several home games every year.
And now a few questions to get to know a little more about Tyler:
Five fun facts about Tyler:
- Tyler was a swimmer year round from ages 5 thru high school, he swam the 500.
- He was in the concert and jazz bands and played the tenor sax and the baritone sax.
- Tyler beat cancer and has been cancer free for about 4 years.
- Growing up his family had 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 horses.
- Tyler was the president of the bass fishing team in high school.
If he wasn't working at AT he would be: He would love to travel the world.
Favorite Christmas Movie (since we are halfway to Christmas): Christmas Family Vacation
Dream vacation: He would love to go to Bora Bora
Favorite Music: His favorite music is old country music and he doesn't like 'any of the new country guys with the fufu music'.
